So when it comes down to it, the Orbita Privee RX is a pretty box with not much going on inside. The major issues are the unpleasant operation, no AC adapter option, flimsy construction inside, and illogical operation. The watch winder does work. And it is relatively quiet in operation, I do admit. But the short comings for me, really outweigh the benefits, especially for the price. When you can get about 12 Chinese made watch winders that arguably work better, why pay this amount? To reiterate, this watch winder does not seem to be a good example of what Orbita typically produces, as they have a number of well-received watch winders. Though, seeing this winder has made me reconsider the design and marketing process at the company, and I'd like to hope they dedicate more resources in the future to releasing watch winder that are less ill-conceived as the Privee RX seems to be a step backwards for Orbita.

What a watch winder does it spin on its axis and angled in a slightly diagonal manner. Most of them do not spin all the time, and will rest for a few hours before spinning again. Most are powered by a wall socket, others have the power of being battery operated for travel purposes. Of course because there is a motor in the winder, there is a concern about them making noise. However, even the two very inexpensive watch winders I own are relatively quiet and would not wake you up at night.

Paul Picot uses high grade ETA automatic movements. Inside here is likely to be an ETA 2894, and a tri-compax Valjoux 7750 lies within the chronograph model of this watch. To Paul Picot's benefit, the C-Type came in a variety of colors and trim levels. You can see yellow elements in this watch, but there are also black, blue, red, and while models which each have a nice character.Read more ›
Watch makers should know that watches are not merely jewelry to most buyers. People don't just buy watches because they like the looks, but there are other factors me take into consideration. I would be very interested to know how someone's one week experience with a watch was before I purchased one. Positive accolades about a watch's function and comfort are highly relevant and important to most purchasing decisions. We want to hear about them. Further, the importance of reviews becomes much more prevalent as most people have no access to watches they are interested other than seeing pictures of them in a magazine or on the internet. Watch makers without extremely powerful global distribution could easily maintain stellar sales by simply having some positive things said about their products. Most people cannot just go to a store and handle the watches they are interested, so reviews by non-marketers are very important.
Coming in a nice box with a carrying case, the Lumencraft GatLight V3 Ti flashlight is not cheap as far as flashlights go at hovering near 0. But for the enthusiast who loves well engineered goods built to function and last, they are well worth it, and a totally different type of item than other expensive flashlights such as Surefire. You all know what it is like to have a terrible and unreliable flashlight. Weak beam, you never know if it will turn on, randomly turns off, batteries never last; memories all too familiar with most flashlights we have dealt with. I have noticed well priced Lumencraft flashlights on eBay at significant discounts. A great flashlight worth checking out.
The Primo 4 Musical is a manually wound mechanical watch with a musical twist. It has four disc with grooves underneath that play a bit like a cog in a music box. Each disc contains 10 seconds of music, one from each of these four works; Magic Flute by Mozart, the Canon by Pachelbel, the Hungarian Dances by Brahms and the Four Seasons by Vivaldi. Pressing one of the pushers activates a disc to rotate and melody be played.Read more ›
The retailer LongIslandWatch.com carries some great high-value watch brands. So even though they will soon stop carrying Marcello C watches, they won't stop carrying German brands such as Junkers, Trias, Riedenschild, Zeppelin, and other worthy watches. Worth your time to see their selection.
To implement the authorized dealer restrictions, manufacturers of high-end watches individually number each watch. These serial numbers or "codes," can be traced back to the store authorized to sell the particular watch. Because watch pricing is inflated to a high degree, it is necessary for watch manufacturers to police this system judiciously. A watch dealer will acquire a watch in two ways from a manufacturer; either purchasing the watch flatout at a dealer price, or on a consignment basis (where the retailer does not actually buy the item, but merely "displays" it for the manufacturer who either rents the space or pays a commission to retailer when the item is sold). Both methods have plus and minuses, but the majority of watch retailers purchase watches at dealer prices from the manufacturer and then resell them. At the basis level, the manufacturer has a retail price which they "suggest" and there is a different price that the dealer pays for the watch. The difference in those prices that the dealer makes in a sale is their profit.
7. Feedback is important, but be smart about it. I have dealt with people with little to no feedback who have been great, and people with lots of feedback whose positive responses have been mostly fake. Remember communication is most important.
I recommend the Tag Heuer Link series to anyone. At 42 mm the case is respectably sized without being too large, and the bracelet is a nice 22 mm is width. The watch will look good on any wrist, and it very comfortable. This watch slowly grows on you if you do not like it at first. As a gift it is perfect because even if the recipient is not a watch lover, they will wear the watch endlessly without thinking twice. Good job Tag Heuer, I knew there was a reason you were so popular.Read more ›
U-Boat watches are pretty sturdy, and have a nice feel for such watches. They are undoubtedly the highest quality watches to display this theme, though they are not the only watches that combine retro military looks and with submarine conventions.

The view of the Valjoux 7750 automatic mechanical movement is impressive, but a bit stark. Decoration these days is very popular on movements. There is a machine-finished plate with gold lettering on the rotor that says "Marcello C." and the above mentioned "Swiss Made," not too much else. Germans have a reputation for being functional and utilitarian, offering high value, but when you place a see-through case-back, I like to have a little something extra to look at. Again, I am reminded that this watch is beguiling. I forget the Diavolo is a bargain at about ,050, especially for what you get, and continue to feel as I look at this watch, that it is something far more expensive.
Expect the transition to be relatively smooth, but don't expect too many sales prices. It is unclear the effect this will have on online sales as well. Tag Heuer and Zenith are notorious for sticking with "authorized dealers." Production of Hublot watches is likely to increase, but availability online is probably not. This of course doesn't change the bounty on eBay, thankfully.
A new stream of Chinese made watch winders are coming into the United States being priced very well. Often no more than about 0. I purchased two double watch winders of eBay for about each (one brand to look for is Garinin). This is not exactly bargain basement pricing, but it is a worthy investment once you start owning several automatic watches. Of you have hand-wound manual watches, there are still some options out there, but hand-wound watch winders are complex and always expensive.Read more ›
I would imagine that the typical watch consumer is intelligent. At least understanding words and meaning. What do you think of when you hear "extreme" or the even more extreme iteration of extreme, "xtreme?" Well I think about objects that takes a beating, and do so while functioning well. Not fancy gold watches with mechanical alarms. So while I really like the Vulcain Cricket Diver X-Treme (go ahead, picture extreme diving crickets, it is the logical thing to do), I think Vulcain's marketing team needs to hit the showers.
If you want to search for something else you can do that to. There are search bars in various places on ablogtoread.com that will allow you to search for eBay items right away. This happens to me all the time. I will be somewhere and learn of something that I must search eBay for, but I don't want to lose were I am. So at least for ablogtoread.com, that option is available to you.

On the plus side, the watch does tell the time, and features an automatic movement with a 5 day power reserve, which is cool, not unique to this watch, but nice to have. I'm just going to flat out say it, this watch is an ugly eyesore. Other Aquanautic watches do fill some interesting niches, but this Diver Tourbillon is clearly meant to fill a void that it creates when it enters a room (and everyone else leaves).Read more ›
