A new limited edition version of the Hamilton Ventura XXL watch will be worn by major characters in the new Men In Black III (3) movie that will open this month. I believe that previous Men In Black (MIB) movies also featured other versions of the famous Ventura watch. This newest version is the Ventura XXL model in polished steel, and it is a limited edition.
If the Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso for the Dark Knight Rises didn't inspire you, maybe this set of Batman and Bane watches from Diesel will. While the watches aren't going to be available while the movie is still in theaters... Batman and The Dark Knight Rises fans will be able to get their hands on these watches in November of 2012.

This particular GG Gefica Hunter GMT Moon Phase watch is just that. The movement has the time (jumping hours and retrograde minutes) with a central red seconds hand. The lower dial has a moon phase indicator (one of those open ones that show the moon phase in both hemispheres), and a subsidiary 24 hour GMT hand. The GMT hand is adjusted using the large pusher on the left side of the case. There is an inset pusher to adjust the moon phase indicator.
Big cats are always a theme of love for the panther-esque brand. You can see the hunting feline in many of their watches each year. A few this year get emerald eyes, and one gets a special watch where a dial-mounted panther is the automatic rotor. Again, that is a subject for another piece. Cartier's high jewelry watches are most typically beautiful creations with an emphasis (though not exclusively) on animals. Museum quality designs dazzle us with their clever and attractive settings to enhance our view of sparkles. For most people, the ability to own these watches or other items does not exist, but looking at them still feels gratifying. It also helps Cartier sell their standard jewelry watches in a big way.
What are some of the precise differences from the prototype to this final version? Here are some words from them on the matter:
This is one of those analog/digital hybrid models that are popular with a lot of people. The Japanese quartz movement powers analog hands for the hours and minutes, while a small LCD screen offers the rest of the information. Let me say that the screen is very small - and if you have vision problems you'll not likely be able to use it. The screen is used to access all the watch's functions. The timepiece has the time, world time, five alarms, chronograph, calendar, and full calendar. There is a lot of stuff for a little screen. Anyone familiar with using Casio digital watches will be able to use this one pretty quickly.
While Back to the Future gave the DMC-12 automobile model new life, it was not the only thing that made the car a sci-fi symbol (though being heralded by Hollywood as the suitable base for a kick-ass time machine can't hurt at all). The DeLorean was to be a sports car ahead of its time. It featured a rear-engine layout and showy gull-wing doors. Of course, its most notable feature was the unpainted stainless steel body of the car. While the DeLorean didn't invent these ideas, it did marry them together in a particularly satisfying way. It is a design that is still appealing today in a pleasantly dated way.
It is easy to love the silvered guilloche engraved dial on the face of the watch. On the face are also 18k rose gold hands and Roman numeral hour markers. The chronograph and subsidiary seconds dials don't really intrude on the hour markers as much as you'd think they might. I personally quite like minute repeaters with visible hammer and gong displays on the dial This piece does that well, but also preserves legibility for both the time and chronograph functions.

Watch What-If: Hamilton Ventura XXL
This is mostly a matter of opinion as I don't have any local affinity to Georgia or their Armed Forces, as I am many thousands of miles away in western Canada. I suppose my regional equivalent is something like a Marathon SAR which often sports a maple leaf design (dubbed the MSAR) and has been said to be the watch worn by the Canadian Coast Guard. For me, that detail makes the Marathon MSAR more appealing and I can only assume the GAF would have the same effect for anyone with an affinity towards the Georgian Armed Forces, regional or otherwise.
